Come as You are

I wrote "Come as You are", because I encountered so many people who felt like they were not good enough. So many times we feel like we are nothing. We compare ourselves to others and may erroneously think, "He/she is more good looking, intelligent, gifted, popular, has a nicer car, better boyfriend, better family, probably even a better life!" In the midst of our insecurities, we forget the blessings we have in our own lives and more so, we become blinded from the truth which is that God accepts us for who we are and as we are. We are wonderfully and fearfully made in His image and likeness. We are perfect just as He created us!! Next time you feel the urge to critcize something about yourself, remember this verse, "You are all beautiful, my beloved, and there is no blemish in you" (Song of Songs 4:7). God loves everything about us and invites us to come as we are.

Music

"Let Me Fly" was written when I was in college in 2009. It was for my composition class, and my atheist (or so I thought) professor inspired me by saying, "Your lyrics are good, but don't you want your music to bring people to God as well? You write beautifully about allowing God into your life, but your music should do the same. When you compose the music, you should write it with the same passion that will hopefully inspire listeners to love God as much as you do." My professor taught me how to move the bass lines to add dimension to the song and how to arrange the music in a way that added to the lyrics, and what you hear on this video is the result of his constructive criticism! I pray and hope that the music God has laid on my heart will one day lead others to Him! Let go of any fears that hinder you from answering His call, and allow Him to let you fly! :-)

Until You Call

Let Me Fly

I wrote this about 4 years ago when I was unbelievably confused with what God was calling me to do with this life He has blessed me with. I spent all of high school and college preparing for a dream that never came to fruition, and I became frustrated because of all the time I felt I "wasted." More specifically, frustrated because I had a desire to do something meaningful and just didn't know what that something was.

This song, like all the songs I've written thus so far, is a prayer to God- a prayer to help me understand His will for the life He graced me with.

For all of you who are at that place right now, I urge you not to give up. GOD HEARS YOU! He knows your struggles and He will reveal His plan in His time not ours. But when He finally does...you can expect it to be AmAzInG.

After a year and a half of prayer, God revealed to me what He was calling me to do- spread the faith I have with those around me and lead them to God. Yes, I became a Youth Minister, and it is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined myself doing.

Continue to discern and God will reveal it to you. Until then, keep praying!

Radiant Joy

Have you ever just woke up one day feeling incredibly blessed by God? This is what I was feeling when I wrote this song. Whether it is through ministry, serving others, or suddenly being aware of the many graces you have been given, God is continually reminding us that He is here...He walks with us...and even more so, He loves us soooo much! Sometimes while I am hiking, I'll be taken aback by the beauty of God's creation or I'll be walking down a street and a little girl with a polka dotted dress will greet me with the biggest grin...all of these moments, I feel is God speaking to me, saying, "You are not alone and I am always with you!" I find my joy in Christ...and nothing can get me out of the darkness except for Him! Thank you, Jesus!!!
