In Matthew 19:16, a rich young man asks Jesus, “Teacher, what good must I do to gain eternal life?" In John 4:1-39, Jesus converses with a Samaritan woman at the well and tells her that the living water He gives her will never leave her thirsty. She responds with, "Sir...give me some of that water, so that I may never be thirsty or come here again to draw water." (John 4:15). One of Jesus' disciples asked Him, "Lord, teach us to pray..." (Luke 11:1) and still other disciples asked Jesus, "Explain to us the parable..."(Matthew 13:36).
Jesus' followers yearned to draw near to God. They wanted to better understand Him. They sought to deepen their prayer life, gain healing, and more importantly, receive and respond to the love of God. They were inspired by the words of Christ and were nourished by them. Spiritual direction is exactly that- an opportunity to seek the face of God and contemplate His mercy, love, and presence in your life.
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest"
Who is the Catholic Spiritual Director?
My name is Carrell Jamilano, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to accompany others in their spiritual journey towards God. I find that God is truly present in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. I see God's face in His wondrous creation which is why I enjoy hiking and being surrounded by grand mountains, sparkling lakes, and fragrant flowers. I also find God in the seemingly mundane moments of my life like a smile from a stranger, words from a co-worker, laughter among friends, or a line from a movie. To me, God is truly present in all things and within each soul, and I seek to help others uncover His omnipresence in their experiences and in the world and people around them.
I received my Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology at St. Joseph's College of Maine. I am the new TV cohost for the upcoming season of Shalom World TV’s program, “WOMAN: Strong Faith, True Beauty,” a talk show for all you holy ladies who radiate God's love and beauty as sisters, daughters, mothers, aunts, friends, wives and leaders of our world today. I have been graced with the opportunity of appearing in two other TV shows, "The Gist" and "This is the Day", both produced by Catholic TV Network. In addition, my writings have been published with Liguorian, Life Teen International, and The Upper Room.
